Who we are, and why the record matters.

A registered Arizona nonprofit built on the premise that an accurate account, filed honestly, is itself an act of advocacy.

Our Mission

Testimony as infrastructure

The Justice Society of Activism exists to advance justice through the written word, community advocacy, and action-oriented programs. We believe storytelling and activism are inseparable — that real change begins when people see themselves, and their struggles, reflected honestly.

Founded March 25, 2021, the Society is built on the premise that testimony — plainly told, personally owned — is itself a form of activism. Our flagship body of work, The Aqueduct Series, documents lived experience as surviving transmission: evidence filed on the record before it is lost to a world that no longer builds the conditions to remember it.

Our Values

Four standing commitments

  • Accountability without erasure — owning harm honestly, without being permanently defined by it.
  • Testimony over performance — truth that holds up under its own weight, not for an audience.
  • Service across generations — carrying lessons forward for those who did not have them modeled.
  • Record-keeping as justice — the belief that an accurate account, filed honestly, is itself an act of advocacy.

Standard of Evidence

How we handle an account

Everything the Society publishes is held to one rule: the account has to be owned by the person giving it. We do not reconstruct other people's interiors, assign motives we cannot evidence, or publish a claim the witness is not prepared to stand behind.

Where a record is incomplete, we say so. Where a case remains unresolved — and in this body of work several do — we leave it unresolved on the page rather than supplying an ending. A false conclusion is a worse outcome than an open file.

The case stays open. The record stays honest.
